The Coke Tour in Atlanta

While visiting Atlanta this summer, Wink and Mimi took us on the Coke tour. At the end of the tour they give you a free bottle of coke along with free all you can drink taste testing of Coke products from around the world. I left with a sugar headache and #2 left with a nifty new bottle opener. As long as he is around, you will always be able to open a Coke bottle. ;)

CIA Spy

#2 had money that he just had to spend and he found some super sweet spy glasses at Cracker Barrel. These glasses have mirrors on the outer part of the lens so you can see behind you. Here is my super cool spy.

Chick-fil-A

Yesterday, Chick-fil-A had a promotion that if you dressed up as a cow you would get a free meal. They even had a link to print out parts of a cow to use for your costume. I talked the kids into doing this so we could get our supper for free. They were a little apprehensive but went along with it. I even did it. Unfortunately, I did not read the very fine print where it stated that you had to dress from head to toe as a cow to get the free meal. So our print outs were considered only a partial costume. But we got an entree free for each person! That was just as good to me! I purchased some diet lemonade (oh my goodness, yum yum) and we headed back to Pappy's house.

We can play in this without bathing suits??

My desert city kids were SOOOOO excited when Speannie suggested we drive to a creek down the road a piece from her house to wade in the water, assuming it had some water. After driving several miles down dirt roads and going over one lane bridges that had no water flowing under them, we made it to an area that met if not exceeded their expectations. The kids were so surprised that I let them get in the water with their clothes on and not their bathing suits.

The water ended up being a little deeper than expected (a little over their knees) and the rocks were slippery (so #4 tells me). #4 "slipped" and got ALL his clothes wet, so that opened the door for the rest to follow suit. They got to wade/swim in the creek and can't wait to go back.

Again, my little city dwellers surprised me in the fact that NONE of them were scared of the little fish swimming around their legs. They were actually trying to catch the little fish with their hands. They stand back from the lobster tank at Wal-Mart!

We met some other people who pointed out the a better swimming hole was just around the bend but I think our knee deep fun will work out just fine.

Stop #1

We are now visiting Spandma and Spandpa who live in the country. So needless to say, the kids are roaming the country side (the large yard and any adjacent pastures)in search of fun. They have found it with the trampoline, cows, grass, rain and a wagon. At Aunt Speannie's house, they are dying to look for snakes in the cow pond. This surprises me, as they are scared of moths flying around the house at home. #1, #2 and #4 requested a shovel to use as the method of defense against any snakes. They then requested the use of Speanie's shotgun because they felt that would be a easier. They assured Speannie that #2 was a professional with a shotgun, as he had shot a BB gun at the lake bed. Speannie suggested they call me to verify that it would be OK for Quick Draw McGraw and his sidekicks to use the shotgun. Needless to say, the answer was no. So they have all taken a fancy to wondering and exploring. #1 has found her a new pet, the neighbors horse. Her and Sperri have been able to ride it and #1 is ready for one of her own.

Arbor Day School Program

Today the triplets' class sang an Arbor Day song for the Arbor Day program at school. As always, they requested that I video it. To think they think I only video or take pictures upon demand. I would do it anyway!

Future Bull Riders???

At the county fair, the kids rode a mechanical bull and I am surprised they wanted too. Needless to say, I captured it all on video. Our friend J and her daughter, V, went with us and I videoed V too!

Money Saved Again!

I saved yet another $35 tonight by cutting all the boys' hair again tonight! Not only was I happy about saving money but my white walls and blending are getting better. The entire hair cutting session has become shorter. I can whip out those white walls in seconds! Talk about confidence....

This time I also had a novelty item that seemed to really work. I have seen this "cape" for years in the Harriet Carter magazine and have wanted to order since the first time I did see. I just knew it would be the next best thing since sliced bread. I was right! Because I have now made an effort to cut their hair for several months in a row, I decided to bite the bullet an order it. So I took the $10 the cape cost me from the amount I actually saved by cutting their hair myself.

Despite #2 giving me a thumbs down, he was quite happy with his hair cut. He was happy with the cape because it kept most of the hair from falling on him and making him itchy and miserable.

The big talk

Tonight at the Meeting, Sister H had invited the kids to be her householder for an impromptu talk. The kids were very excited to be a part of this talk and to be on the stage in the front Hall. They wanted to make sure we took video of it and then posted it on the blog. Needless to say, they felt good and received lots of complements for their effort, reading from the Bible and willingness to go up on stage.

If you could have seen the cameramen, you would have seen two very proud parents.

Amateur night at Spylie's Place

This past Saturday, we were invited over to the BFF's house for dinner. The roast was good and the sauce Spendell made was great. I am glad to be back in the circle, even if it was a pity invite. (LOL Just joking BFF and Spendell, I just couldn't resist!)

Anyway...Spylie had set up her karaoke machine, placed a bar stool on top of a fuzzy rug, made a spotlight with her ceiling light and had amateur night in her bedroom. We could hear the kids having fun while the adults were in the living room chatting but unless you walked in to the room, the experience was just not complete.

I was able to capture a quick snapshot that totally set the scene and if I did not know better, I would have sworn #2 got into bar with a fake I.D. I believe #2 was doing a stand up comedy routine in this picture.

Are you wondering why I have a picture of #2 apparently during mid-school day? He had the croup over the weekend that seemed to get a little worse Monday morning. By Tuesday morning he was doing much better and I sent him off to school. But by lunch I had a phone call from school that he had thrown up on the playground. So off to school to grab him up as I ran my errands. It was not serious, as I had expected. He said he had coughed too hard and a little bit of his lunch had come up. So as we waited for daddy to meet us, #2 entertained himself by buckling himself upside down in his seat.

What more could a boy want?

This picture is to show three different things that made #2 very happy at different times but yesterday they all came together to make a very happy boy. The first being his pants. His cousin brought a whole suite case of clothes for #2 when her family made a stop here on their family vacation. When #2 saw these camouflage pants with tons of pockets he immediately put them on. Now I must warn you, you need to be sitting for this, but would believe it had a hook attached to the belt loop to hold keys too??? This kid wore these pants for days with the pockets stuffed and anything that would attach to the hook.

Then last week, a friend at the Kingdom Hall gave #2 a bag of clothes and he found the most awesome shirt ever! He has worn it twice in the last week. It almost is as good as the Abercrombie shirt that is reversible his cousin gave him last year. He loves to wear one side one day and flip it the next day without washing it. How much more fun could a shirt be?

This past weekend he helped his dad work on Grandma's RV. He was the go-for with tools, drinks, rags or what ever. He helped install a fuel pump and worked with his dad to the end. So to say thanks for all his help, his dad bought him a pocket knife. And not just any pocket knife, a Swiss Army knife. He can't hardly wait to eat at Dennie's so he can use the built in toothpick.
